The use of thymalin in the complex therapy of 19 patients with frostbites was shown by the authors to promote the stimulation of cell immunity, decrease the intensity of intravascular blood coagulation, to increase fibrinolysis, to improve the development of reparative processes in the wound and outcomes of autoplasty. It also decreased the percentage of infectious complications.

Thymalin is an immunomodulatory drug containing a polypeptide extract of thymus that has demonstrated efficacy in the therapy of acute respiratory distress syndrome and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, as well as in complex therapy related to severe COVID-19 in middle-aged and elderly patients.. KE and EW dipeptides are active substances of Thymalin.

This study evaluates the effects of five different peptides, the Epitalon tetrapeptide, the Vilon dipeptide, the Thymogen dipeptide, the Thymalin peptide complex, and the Chonluten tripeptide, as regulators of inflammatory and proliferative processes in the human monocytic THP-1, which is a human leukemia monocytic cell line capable of differentiating into macrophages by PMA in vitro. These peptides (Khavinson Peptides), characterized by Prof. Khavinson from 1973 onwards, were initially isolated from animal tissues and found to be organ specific.

One of the mechanisms of the immunomodulatory effect of thymalin is considered to be the ability of this peptide drug to influence the differentiation of human hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). It was found that, as a result of standard treatment, patients in the control group showed a decrease in the concentration of the pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-6, C-reactive protein, D-dimer.

Thymalin is a polypeptide complex isolated from the thymus and regulating the functions of the immune system. Thymalin is effective in therapy of acute respiratory syndrome, chronic obstructive bronchitis, and other immunopathology. Thymalin increases functional activity of T lymphocytes, but the targeted molecular mechanism of its biological activity requires further study.

The article presents data on the use of peptide bioregulators of cell homeostasis and the protective functions of the body in various dental diseases and pathology of organs and tissues of the maxillofacial region. Issues related to the immunopharmacological effect and clinical use of natural and synthetic peptide thymomimetics (thymalin, thymogen, vilon, epithalamin, cortexin) and peptide bioregulators from cartilaginous (sigumir, chondrolux) and other tissues in case of trauma, as well as inflammatory, inflammatory and other pathological processes of tissues of the oral cavity and maxillofacial region. Particular attention is paid to their use in the complex treatment of dental diseases in the elderly.
