Pretreatment with alpha-methyl-p-tyrosine, a tyrosine hydroxylase inhibitor, was found to increase the intensity of catalepsy induced by haloperidol, chlorpromazine and molindone. The drug probably decreases the synthesis of dopamine and makes less dopamine available for release and to compete with the neuroleptic for the postsynaptic striatal dopamine receptor sites with resultant potentiation of the neuroleptic-induced catalepsy.

Objectives: Improving economy and well-being in developing nations like India has expanded life expectancy and changed the attention from transmittable to non transmittable diseases such as Parkinson's disease. Tabebuia impetiginosa has been utilized by cultivators as a general tonic, immunostimulant, adaptogen and also in motor disorders. The present investigation was to explore the antiparkinsonian activity of Tabebuia impetiginosa bark by experimental methods.

Aim: Commonly, neuroleptics and prokinetics induce a prolonged QTc interval. In this study, stable gastric pentadecapeptide BPC 157 counteracts the prolongation of the QTc interval in Wistar rats that underwent daily administration of dopamine neuroleptics or prokinetics. Previously, in rats and mice, BPC 157 counteracted neuroleptic-induced catalepsy and gastric ulcers.

Recent evidence points to a neuroprotective action of bee venom on nigral dopamine neurons in animal models of Parkinson's disease (PD). Here we examined whether bee venom also displays a symptomatic action by acting on the pathological functioning of the basal ganglia in rat PD models. Bee venom effects were assessed by combining motor behavior analyses and in vivo electrophysiological recordings in the substantia nigra pars reticulata (SNr, basal ganglia output structure) in pharmacological (neuroleptic treatment) and lesional (unilateral intranigral 6-hydroxydopamine injection) PD models.

Context: Reserpine-induced orofacial dyskinesia is an animal model of tardive dyskinesia which may be associated with neurodegeneration and free radical damage.
Aim: The aim was to assess the neuroprotective potential and in vivo antioxidant status of alcoholic extract of roots and rhizomes of Nardostachys jatamansi (ANJ) and its triterpenes (TNJ) in reserpine-induced orofacial dyskinesia.
Materials And Methods: In the present study, repeated treatment with reserpine (1.

Murraya koenigii L. (Rutaceae), commonly known as curry leaf tree, closely associated with south India where the word "curry" originates from the Tamil "kari" for spiced sauces. Curry leaves are a rich source of carbazole alkaloids which possess various biological activities such as antitumor, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.
