The intraperitoneal injection of Buthus eupeus to rats (2,5 mg/kg) results in increasing of catecholamines and cyclic nucleotides content in blood. The hyperinsulinemia is observed simultaneously with the development of hyperglycaemia. It is believed that the activation of the cyclic system is a key mechanism of the neuro-humoral disturbances of homeostasis in case of scorpion venom influence.

The neurotoxin β-methylamino-L-alanine (BMAA) produced by cyanobacteria is widely present in foods and dietary supplements, posing a significant threat to human health. Ganglioside GM1 (GM1) has demonstrated potential for treating neurodegenerative diseases; however, its ability to prevent BMAA-induced neurotoxicity remains uncertain. In this study, zebrafish embryos were treated with Ganglioside GM1 to investigate its neuroprotective effects against BMAA exposure and the underlying mechanisms.

This study was conducted to elucidate the effects of different degrees of substitution (DS) on the properties of propionylated and butyrylated starches and to investigate their efficacy and mechanisms in ameliorating autism-like phenotypes. Fourier transform infrared spectra of propionylated and butyrylated starches revealed the presence of the CO absorption peak at 1730 cm. Additionally, as the DS increased, the surface of the starch granules became rougher, and the crystallinity decreased.

Background/aims: Psoriasis is a common inflammatory skin disorder following non-specific triggers. Involvement of immune system is widely accepted for pathogenesis studies have demonstrated importance of gut microbiota in pathogenesis of inflammatory skin diseases. Proton pump inhibitor (PPI) and histamine-2 receptor antagonist (H2RA) are acid-suppressive drugs widely used for acid related gastrointestinal diseases, and prolonged use has been associated with altered gut microbiota.

Background: Ischemic stroke (IS) is known for its high incidence, disability, and mortality, and there is an urgent need to investigate the pathophysiological mechanisms and develop novel treatment strategies.

Objectives: We aimed to investigate the mechanisms of the novel circMap2k1/miR-135b-5p/Pidd1 axis in the treatment of IS progression with fluoxetine.

Methods: The middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) model was done in adult male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats and followed by fluoxetine treatment and the injection of adeno-associated virus (AAV)-sh-ctr and AAV-sh-circMap2k1 into the bilateral hippocampal tissues of rats.
