Tyrosine hydroxylase activity in the corpus striatum was measured in a large dose of carbon tetrachloride (CC14)-intoxicated rats in order to confirm whether brain catecholamine contents decrease in acute hepatic failure or not. Theoretical amounts of dopa synthesized in the brain of the treated animals were calculated according to an equation of enzyme kinetics. Tyrosine hydroxylase activities in CCl4-injured rats were similar to those in control rats, and calculated amounts of brain dopa in liver-injured rats were rather higher as compared to those in untreated animals.

Introduction: This study explored the effects of prenatal exposure to fumonisins B (FB) on bone innervation in newborn Wistar rats.
Material And Methods: Pregnant dams (n = 6 per group) were assigned to either the control or one of two FB-exposed groups (60 mg or 90 mg/kg body weight) from the 7 day of gestation until parturition. On the day of parturition, one male pup from each litter (n = 6 per group) was randomly selected and euthanised, and their femurs were dissected for analysis.

Parkinson's disease arises from the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta, leading to motor symptoms such as akinesia, rigidity, and tremor at rest. The non-motor component of Parkinson's disease includes increased neuropathic pain, the prevalence of which is 4 to 5 times higher than the general rate. By studying a mouse model of Parkinson's disease induced by 6-hydroxydopamine, we assessed the impact of dopamine depletion on pain modulation.

Epidemiological studies have linked fine dust pollution to depression, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress are known contributors to depression, but their induction by particulate matter (PM), particularly PM2.5, in animal models has been limited.

Hydroxytyrosol, a naturally occurring chemical with antioxidant and antiviral properties, is widely used in the nutrition, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. In the present study, a modularized cascade composed of Modules 1 and 2 was designed and implemented to convert l-tyrosine to hydroxytyrosol. Module 1 was a four-enzymatic cascade for converting l-tyrosine to tyrosol.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by fibrillar neuronal inclusions containing aggregated α-synuclein (α-Syn). While the pathology of PD is multifaceted, the aggregation of α-Syn and mitochondrial dysfunction are well-established hallmarks in its pathogenesis. Recently, TFE3, a transcription factor, has emerged as a regulator of autophagy and metabolic processes.
