Hypocalcaemia may complicate the treatment of fulminating meningococcaemia in children. In an attempt to elucidate the pathophysiology of the hypocalcaemia, we have measured accompanying changes in blood levels of calcitonin (BW-336-6 antiserum) and parathyroid hormone (C-terminal antiserum IRE). Ten children aged 1-11 years with fulminating meningococcaemia are studied.
