Objectives: Apical periodontitis (AP) is an inflammatory immune response in periapical tissues caused by microbial infections. Failure of root canal treatment or delayed healing is often due to intracanal or extra-radicular bacteria. However, beyond microbial factors, the patient's systemic health can significantly influence the progression and healing of AP.

Background: Chronic active Epstein-Barr virus (CAEBV) infection is a rare disease in which the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) persists and replicates, causing chronic symptoms and fatal complications. The treatment of CAEBV is still evolving. Our case report showed a new therapy for CAEBV.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPrune belly syndrome (PBS), or Eagle-Barrett syndrome, is a rare congenital disorder marked by abdominal wall muscle deficiency, urinary tract anomalies, and cryptorchidism, causing significant abdominal wall laxity and functional impairment. This case report discusses an innovative approach to abdominal wall reconstruction in a 19-year-old male patient with PBS and associated conditions, including chronic renal failure and spina bifida. Previously, he underwent distal ureterectomy and vesicoureteral reimplantation at the age of two years to correct urinary tract dilation and bilateral orchiopexy.

Purpose This study aimed to clarify which positions are beneficial for patients with pathological lung diseases, such as acute respiratory distress syndrome, by obtaining lung ventilation and deformable vector field (DVF) images using Deformable Image Registration (DIR). Methods Thirteen healthy volunteers (5 female, 8 male) provided informed consent to participate to observe changes in normal lungs. DIR imaging was processed using the B-spline algorithm to obtain BH-CTVI (inhale, exhale) in four body positions (supine, prone, right lateral, left lateral) using DIR-based breath-hold CT ventilation imaging (BH-CTVI).
