Stepwise desorption of protein components from the hemosorbent SCN after hemoperfusion was studied, and their molecular weights were determined. It was found that hard alkaline regeneration and oxidation with nitric acid do not affect the hemosorbent structure, composition and potentiometric characteristics. The regenerated hemosorbent can be successfully used for adsorbtion of extraneous low- and medium-molecular weight components to clarify microbiological liquids.

We examined 110 patients treated conservatively for cicatricial esophageal stenosis including expansion on the string. The patients were divided into three groups: controls (n = 35), receiving adjuvant SUMS-1 (n = 38) and given adjuvant enterosgel (n = 37). According to electron microscopy, enterosorbents make esophageal mucosa denser by decreasing interstitial spaces as a result of microcirculatory improvement and reduction of edema.

Efficacy of sorption-detoxication therapy (sorbent SUMS-1) in combined treatment of acute purulent paraproctitis was evaluated. Degree of endotoxication, state of postoperative wound, structural and morphological state of mucosous membrane of the rectum (light, electron microscopy, morphometry of biopsies) were studied. It was found that local use of sorbent increases efficacy of treatment of severe paraproctitis: endotoxicosis eliminates, regional hemo- and lympho-circulation improves, wound regeneration activates.

The surface of SUMS1 was studied using scanning electron microscopy after contact with the wound contact. In vivo sorbent action was found to differ from in vitro adsorption properties of sorption drugs, as during the contact with organism tissue in the inflammation focus granule active surface is covered by fibrin, to which necrotic tissues, bacteria and immunocompetent cells adhere. The use of sorption drainage in acute and chronic inflammation lowers the challenge on lymphatic tissue because removal of sorption preparations also causes elimination of large fragments of non viable tissues, antigens and protein-cellular conglomerates that might block lymphatic vessels and regional lymph nodes.

The spontaneous and induced production of monokine++-interleukin-1 (IL-1) by the peripheral blood monocytes under the influence of autotransfusions of hemosorbent-treated blood (AHTB) was studied in 22 patients with an unfavorable course of ulcer disease. The spontaneous production of IL-1 was found to grow successively after a course of AHTB in patients with ulcer disease with terms of cicatrization more than 2 weeks. In patients with slow cicatrization of ulcers the IL-1 production did not change.
