Article Abstract

Functional dynamic studies of the adrenal in vivo employing 131I-19-cholesterol were carried out as a further screening test, according to the method previously described (Pavonia and Magrini, 1977), on seven patients in whom hyperadrenocorticism was suspected on the basis of clinical symptoms. The data obtained in basal conditions, under ACTH stimulation, and under dexamethasone suppression, compared with each other and supported by the results of conventional examinations, demonstrate that the quantitative information provided by this radioisotope test is correlated with the functional state of each adrenal, thus confirming the potential value of the method for diagnostic purposes. The functional dynamic test proposed does not require a higher dose of tracer than morphologic studies and the radiation risk (approximately 2.5 rad to the ovaries or gonads) seems acceptable in adult subjects.

Development and validation of the infant nursing assessment scale: Results from exploratory factor analysis and Rasch modeling.

J Pediatr Nurs

January 2025

University of Padua, Laboratory of Studies and Evidence Based Nursing, Department of Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular Sciences and Public Health, Padua, Italy.

Purpose: The primary challenge in infant care is developing a comprehensive, rapid, and reliable assessment tool that is minimally dependent on subjective evaluations and applicable in various inpatient settings. This study aims to develop and assess the structural validity of the Infant Nursing Assessment Scale (INA), enabling a comprehensive evaluation of hospitalized newborns and infants.

Design And Methods: A development and validation study based on cross-sectional design was undertaken.

Background: This study investigates the therapeutic efficacy of dynamic neuromuscular stabilization (DNS) technology paired with Kinesio Taping in patients with persistent nonspecific low back pain, as well as the effect on neuromuscular function and pain self-efficacy.

Methods: A randomized controlled clinical study was conducted to collect clinical data on DNS combined with KT for the treatment of chronic nonspecific low back pain from November 2023 to April 2024. The inclusion criteria were patients with chronic nonspecific lower back pain, aged between 18 and 30 years old, and without serious underlying medical conditions, such as cardiac disease, hypertension, and diabetes.

Background: Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have changed the care processes in mental health, particularly in decision-making support for health care professionals and individuals with mental health problems. AI systems provide support in several domains of mental health, including early detection, diagnostics, treatment, and self-care. The use of AI systems in care flows faces several challenges in relation to decision-making support, stemming from technology, end-user, and organizational perspectives with the AI disruption of care processes.

HIV infection implicates a spectrum of tissues in the human body starting with viral transmission in the anogenital tract and subsequently persisting in lymphoid tissues and brain. Though studies using isolated cells have contributed significantly towards our understanding of HIV infection, the tissue microenvironment is characterised by a complex interplay of a range of factors, all of which can influence the course of infection but are otherwise missed in ex vivo studies. To address this knowledge gap, it is necessary to investigate the dynamics of infection and the host immune response in situ using imaging-based approaches.

The cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTLA4) is essential in controlling T cell activity within the immune system. Thus, uncovering the molecular dynamics of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within the CTLA4 gene is critical. We identified the non-synonymous SNPs (nsSNPs), examined their impact on protein stability, and identified the protein sequences associated with them in the human CTLA4 gene.
