A non-invasive method has been developed for measuring spleen perfusion in man. This involves recording the gamma-ray energy spectra over the spleen following the localisation of Rubidium-81 within the organ by injecting intravenously labelled heat denatured red cells. The spectra are analysed to provide the ratio of Rubidium-81 to its radioactive decay product Krypton-81 m. This ratio is dependent on the rate of perfusion through the organ. The difficulties encountered in applying this steady state method for monitoring tissue perfusion are illustrated and practical means for their solution presented. The results of applying this method to patients with various splenic disorders are presented and compared with those obtained by other workers using different monitoring techniques.

Early failure of a pancreatic allograft due to complete thrombosis has an incidence of approximately 10% and is the main cause of comorbidity in pancreas transplantation. Although several risk factors have been identified, the exact mechanisms leading to this serious complication are still unclear. In this review, we define the roles of the individual components involved during sterile immunothrombosis-namely endothelial cells, platelets, and innate immune cells.

We present a magnetic particle imaging (MPI)-based assay for calculating the blood half-life and tissue uptake of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) without the need of labeling them. Dual-catheterized rats received 2.0 mg Fe of Synomag-D70, Synomag-D50, ferucarbotran, and Feraheme by femoral vein injection.

Objectives: To investigate the effect of relative evaluation of perfusion computed tomography (PCT) parameters in the diagnosis of pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAC).
Methods: Of the 117 patients in which PCT was performed (May 2019 to June 2023), 99 patients with mass lesions (MLs), including 50 PAC and 11 patients with mass-forming pancreatitis (MFP), and 15 patients without MLs but with main pancreatic duct (MPD) abnormalities, including 6 PAC and 7 no diagnosis of malignancy (NDM) cases were enrolled in this study. Parameter values were obtained from parametric maps of blood flow (BF), blood volume (BV), and mean transit time (MTT) for the ML and abnormal MPD part (AMP), pancreas and spleen.
Aim: To develop a trauma surgery training program using porcine organs and evaluate its usefulness. This program allows participants to experience the tactile sensation of organs and bleeding, which are impossible in trauma surgery training using a cadaver.
Methods: Resected organs (heart, lung, liver, spleen, kidney, small intestine, bladder, and external carotid artery) from slaughtered pigs for medical research were perfused with saline solution, flash-frozen in a deep freezer, and thawed naturally on the morning of training.
