Investigations on two-dimensional materials for efficient carbon dioxide (CO) capture and storage have recently attracted much attention, especially in the global industrial sector. In this work, the CO uptake by three configurations of two-dimensional magnesium oxide was investigated using density functional theory. CO capture analysis was performed considering the geometrical, thermophysical, vibrational, electronic and optical properties.

Background: Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA) is a prevalent condition worldwide, significantly diminishing quality of life and productivity. Except for the alignment change, muscle activation patterns (MAP) have garnered increasing attention as another crucial factor contributing to KOA.

Objective: This study explores the factors, characteristics, and effects of MAP changes caused by KOA, providing a neuromuscular-based causal analysis for the rehabilitation treatment of KOA.

January 2025

Cyclotron Facility, Nuclear Research Center, Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority, Cairo, Egypt.

This study aimed to synthesize MgFeLnO (where, Ln = Yb, Pr, Gd, and Nd) ferrite nanoparticles via the sol-gel process and investigate their structural, morphological, and magnetic properties for potential hyperthermia applications. X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) confirmed the cubic spinel structure for all samples. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images revealed nanometer-scale dimensions and nearly spherical morphology.

Management of heterogeneous construction, renovation, and demolition (CRD) wood residues in Québec brings into light, a widespread topic under discussion related to their current disposal methods in landfills, that may lead to environmental concerns. With rising forfeitures from a legal standpoint, alternative treatment methods for CRD wood wastes are being explored. Thermochemical biomass conversion techniques can be employed to depolymerize low-quality end-of-life CRD wood and valorize it to bio-based products.

Chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) is primarily treated using imatinib mesylate, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) targeting the BCR::ABL1 oncoprotein. However, the development of drug resistance and adverse side effects necessitate the exploration of alternative therapeutic agents. This study presents the synthesis and characterization of a novel imatinib analogue, 3-chloro--(2-methyl-5-((4-(pyridin-2-yl)pyrimidin-2-yl)amino)phenyl)benzamide (PAPP1).
