Modeling Innate Immunity Causing Chronic Inflammation and Tissue Damage.

Bull Math Biol

January 2025

Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Kyushu University, 744 Motooka, Nishi-Ku, Fukuoka, 819-0395, Japan.

Mathematical models of immune responses have traditionally focused on adaptive immunity and pathogen-immune dynamics. However, recent advances in immunology have highlighted the critical role of innate immunity. In response to physical damage or pathogen attacks, innate immune cells circulating throughout the body rapidly migrate from blood vessels and accumulate at the site of injury, triggering inflammation.

Background: Recent studies analyzed the impact of Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) on the prognosis of Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) patients. No data on specific morphological clinical differences of MCPyV+ or MCPyV- are currently available neither on the possible prognostic implication of different clinical presentation of MCC.

Objectives: 1) to describe clinicopathological characteristics of MCC patients and the prevalence of MCPyV infection in an Italian cohort of patients; 2) to define possible differences in clinicopathological and prognostic features among MCPyV+ and MCPyV- MCCs.

Background And Objectives: The Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA) guidelines classify rhinitis as "intermittent" or "persistent" and "mild" or "moderate-severe". To assess ARIA classes in a real-world study in terms of phenotypic differences and their association with asthma.

Methods: We performed a cross-sectional real-world study based on users of the MASK-air® app who reported data for at least 3 different months.

Molecular and Immunological Characterization of Troponin C: An Allergen from .

J Agric Food Chem

January 2025

College of Ocean Food and Biological Engineering, Xiamen Key Laboratory of Marine Functional Food, Fujian Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center of Marine Functional Food, National & Local Joint Engineering Research Center of Processing Technology for Aquatic Products, Jimei University, Xiamen, Fujian 361021, China.

, a crustacean of substantial importance, is a frequent trigger of food allergies. This study examined the molecular and immunological properties of troponin C from (Scy p TnC) as an allergen. The findings indicated that thermal stability of Scy p TnC comprised 150 amino acids and facilitated the induction of CD63/CD203c in basophils from crab allergy patients.
