The association of transradial access and transfemoral access with procedural outcomes in acute ischemic stroke patients receiving endovascular thrombectomy: A meta-analysis.

Clin Neurol Neurosurg

April 2022

Global Health Neurology and Translational Neuroscience Laboratory, Sydney and Neurovascular Imaging Laboratory, Clinical Sciences Stream, Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research, Sydney, NSW, Australia; NSW Brain Clot Bank, NSW Health Pathology, Sydney, Australia; Department of Neurology and Neurophysiology, Comprehensive Stroke Center, Liverpool Hospital and South-Western Sydney Local Health District, Sydney, Australia. Electronic address:

Objective: There is an ongoing debate regarding the benefits of using transradial access (TRA) over transfemoral access (TFA) in endovascular therapies including endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients. This study sought to investigate the association of TRA and TFA with procedural success, access-site complications, first-pass reperfusion (FPR), puncture-to-recanalisation (PTR) time and hemorrhagic transformation (HT) by performing a meta-analysis.

Materials And Methods: PubMed, EMBASE and Scopus were searched.

Objectives: The aims were to demonstrate pharmacokinetic (PK) similarity between DRL_RI, a proposed rituximab biosimilar, and two reference innovator products (Rituxan [RTX-US] and MabThera [RTX-EU]) and compare their pharmacodynamics (PD), efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients with inadequate response to methotrexate (MTX)-based therapy and no prior biologic administration.

Methods: In this randomized, double-blind, parallel-group study, 276 patients with moderate-to-severe active RA were randomized to receive DRL_RI, RTX-US, or RTX-EU on days 1 and 15. The primary PK end points included area under the concentration-time curve from time 0 to 336 h after first infusion (AUC), AUC from day 1 through week 16 (AUC), and AUC from time 0 to time of last quantifiable concentration after the second dose (AUC).

Background: The Global Anticoagulant Registry in the FIELD-Atrial Fibrillation (GARFIELD-AF) is an ongoing prospective noninterventional registry, which is providing important information on the baseline characteristics, treatment patterns, and 1-year outcomes in patients with newly diagnosed non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). This report describes data from Indian patients recruited in this registry.

Methods And Results: A total of 52,014 patients with newly diagnosed AF were enrolled globally; of these, 1388 patients were recruited from 26 sites within India (2012-2016).

A newly discovered handwritten manuscript of Charles T. Jackson, MD, contains instructions for the preparation and administration of sulfuric ether, information on Jackson's preferred mixture of ether and chloroform, an account of his experiments with other potential anesthetic agents, and his comments on etherizing cattle and other animals.
