Obstructive and incidental urolithiasis cases were evaluated in 5 Asian colobine monkey species (= 21 individuals) that included 12 silvery langurs (), 6 spectacled langurs (), 1 Javan langur (), 1 François' langur (), and 1 red-shanked douc langur () from eight zoologic institutions. All institutions that responded were Association of Zoos and Aquariums, European Association of Zoos and Aquaria, or World Association of Zoos and Aquariums accredited. Males were more commonly represented in the total number of cases (86%), and all cases of obstructive urolithiasis occurred in males.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis are diseases in their own right as well as modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. With expanding knowledge on NAFLD pathogenesis, insights have been gleaned into molecular targets for pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic approaches. Lifestyle modifications constitute a cornerstone of NAFLD management.

Objective: In this study, a north polar tube (Portex North Polar tube [Ivory PVC Portex tube; Smiths Medical International, Hythe, United Kingdom]) (NPT) and spiral tube (ST) were compared for their ability to provide a nasal airway in patients during maxillofacial surgery.
Methods: Patients who were aged 18 to 65 years with American Society of Anaesthesiologists score 1 to 2 and Mallampati score 1 to 2 were included in the study. The anesthesia technique was standardized in all patients.

LiverMultiScan™, an MRI-based technology, non-invasively quantifies hepatic fibroinflammatory disease, steatosis and iron content. We hypothesise that LiverMultiScan™can quantify liver health prior to surgery and inform the risk assessment for patients considering liver surgery or chemoembolization and seek to evaluate this technology in an operational environment.
