This chapter describes two imaging-based approaches for examining the localization of bridge-like lipid transfer proteins at membrane contact sites during native biological processes. These approaches use multi-color fluorescence imaging, enabling high spatial and temporal resolution and overcoming the limitations of biochemical methods. The first approach involves immunofluorescence in fixed cells, while the second utilizes time-lapse imaging in live cells.

Methods: Twelve pregnant female rats were divided into a control group and a valproic acid (VPA) treated group (injected intraperitoneally on embryonic day 12 with 600 mg/kg body weight of VPA). Neurobehavioral tests were conducted on the offspring of both groups. The cerebellum was studied by light and electron microscopy as well as GFAP and caspase-3 immunohistochemical staining.

Purpose: We have shown that cannabinoid CB1 receptors regulate both salivation and tearing, but for tearing, this regulation is sex dependent with opposing effects by sex. We investigated a potential interplay of circadian and cannabinoid regulation of tearing.
Methods: We measured cannabinoid and circadian regulation of tearing in CD1 strain mice as well as CB1 receptor protein expression using immunohistochemistry.

Background: Resolvins, which are divided into series D (RvD) and E (RvE), originate from omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA and were recently found to be involved in the modulation of inflammation in some tumors, including breast cancer (BC). We aimed to assess the resolvin profiles (RvD1, RvD2, RvD3 and RvE1) in the plasma of BC patients compared with those of controls and to determine differences in their concentrations according to BC presentation and immunohistochemical characteristics.
Methods: We considered BC patients (sporadic, familiar and BRCA1/2-mutated forms) naïve to any anticancer treatment and controls affected by nonmalignant breast disease.

This study investigated the usefulness of histopathological examination in diagnosing ketoacidosis in hypothermia cases. Out of 79 cases (38 females), 30 showed basal vacuolization (BV), a representative histopathological finding of ketoacidosis, in their hematoxylin and eosin (H&E)-stained specimens. Through the use of both lipid staining with osmium tetroxide postfixation and immunohistochemistry for adipophilin (ADFP-IHC), BV pattern pathology was identified in 43 cases.
