An electronmicroscopical study has been carried out on the mitochondriae of transversely striated muscles in birds at experimentally induced hypergravitation. In the matrix of some mitochondriae sporadic small light focuses were observed located mainly at the periphery of the organelle. Thereby, however, no greater damage of the outer membranes was seen. The stress state of hypergravitation resulted in more important and more marked alterations on the inner membranes and the matrix of the mitochondriae of the femoral muscle.

Obscurin is a giant protein that coordinates diverse aspects of striated muscle physiology. Obscurin immunoglobulin domains 58/59 (Ig58/59) associate with essential sarcomeric and Ca2+ cycling proteins. To explore the pathophysiological significance of Ig58/59, we generated the Obscn-ΔIg58/59 mouse model, expressing obscurin constitutively lacking Ig58/59.

Ascariasis, caused by the parasitic roundworm Ascaris lumbricoides, is a major public health issue, especially in developing nations such as Pakistan. It impacts millions, causing significant morbidity through starvation, stunted growth in children, and a variety of gastrointestinal issues. The taxonomy of the Ascaris genus, notably the distinction between A.

Introduction: Intracellular Ca signalling regulates membrane permeabilities, enzyme activity, and gene transcription amongst other functions. Large transmembrane Ca electrochemical gradients and low diffusibility between cell compartments potentially generate short-lived, localised, high-[Ca] microdomains. The highest concentration domains likely form between closely apposed membranes, as at amphibian skeletal muscle transverse tubule-sarcoplasmic reticular (T-SR, triad) junctions.

The fine-structural organization of the protoperidiniacean Kolkwitziella acuta was examined by SEM and TEM. Serial sections of five cells of K. acuta were used to study the architecture of basal bodies and associated roots, the pusular system, and the feeding apparatus.
