Coronary stent infection is considered the rarest complication of percutaneous coronary intervention, occurring in less than 0.1% of the cases. In this article, a case of coronary stent infection and acute stent occlusion with surrounding peri-stent coronary abscess has been reported.

Background: Coronary endarteritis and stent abscess following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) are rare and challenging conditions with no clear treatment guidelines available.
Aims: This retrospective study aims to present the clinical features, patient and procedural factors, management strategies, and outcomes in 11 consecutive cases referred between 2018 and 2022.
Methods: We retrospectively analysed 11 cases of coronary endarteritis and stent abscess post-PCI that were referred from various centres.

Background: Extracellular vesicles (EVs) isolated from human heart-derived cells have shown promise in suppressing inflammation and fibroblast proliferation. However, their precise benefits in atrial fibrillation (AF) prevention and the role of their antifibrotic/anti-inflammatory properties remain unclear.
