SLC39A10 is a key zinc transporter in T cells and its loss mitigates autoimmune disease.

Sci China Life Sci

January 2025

The Second Affiliated Hospital, The First Affiliated Hospital, School of Public Health, Institute of Translational Medicine, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, 310058, China.

Zinc homeostasis plays an essential role in maintaining immune function and is tightly regulated by zinc transporters. We previously reported that the zinc transporter SLC39A10, located in the cell membrane, critically regulates the susceptibility of macrophages to inflammatory stimuli; however, the functional role of SLC39A10 in T cells is currently unknown. Here, we identified two SNPs in SLC39A10 that are associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Alginate-polylysine-alginate (APA) microencapsulated transgenic human amniotic epithelial cells ameliorate fibrosis in hypertrophic scars.

Inflamm Res

January 2025

Department of Burns and Cutaneous Surgery, Xijing Hospital, Air Force Medical University, No.127 Changle West Road, Xincheng District, Xi'an, 710032, Shaanxi, China.

Background: Hypertrophic scar (HS) is a severe skin fibrosis. Transplanting stem cells carrying anti-fibrotic cytokine genes, like interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), is a novel therapeutic strategy. Human amniotic epithelial cells (hAECs) are ideal seed cells and gene vectors.

Cellular Cholesterol Loss Impairs Synaptic Vesicle Mobility via the CAMK2/Synapsin-1 Signaling Pathway.

Front Biosci (Landmark Ed)

January 2025

Department of Neurology, Jinshan Hospital, Fudan University, 201508 Shanghai, China.

Background: Neuronal cholesterol deficiency may contribute to the synaptopathy observed in Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Intact synaptic vesicle (SV) mobility is crucial for normal synaptic function, whereas disrupted SV mobility can trigger the synaptopathy associated with AD.
