Gastric cancer is a common malignant tumor of the digestive tract, and its treatment remains a significant challenge. In recent years, the role of various immune cells in the tumor microenvironment in cancer progression and treatment has gained increasing attention. Immunotherapy, primarily based on immune checkpoint inhibitors, has notably improved the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer; however, challenges regarding therapeutic efficacy persist.

Beneath the Surface: Diagnosing Gastric Linitis Plastica.

J Community Hosp Intern Med Perspect

November 2024

MedStar Health Internal Medicine Residency Program, Baltimore, MD, USA.

Gastric Linitis plastica is characterized by extensive infiltration of gastric wall by poorly differentiated tumor cells, creating a "leather-bottle stomach" appearance. We describe a case involving a 71-year-old male presenting with globus sensation, early satiety and weight loss. Recent EGD had revealed chronic gastritis with polypoid mucosa at the GE junction, and subsequent FDG-PET indicated asymmetric FDG localization.

The increasing use of immune checkpoint inhibitors in clinical practice is associated with a broad spectrum of immune-related adverse events, such as cardiac, rheumatological and neurological toxicities. Myocarditis is a life-threatening complication, and the concurrent development of myocarditis, myositis and/or myasthenia leads to difficulties in diagnosis, management and treatment. We describe a case presenting with this triple M overlap syndrome following pembrolizumab treatment.

Combining T cell receptor sequencing and transcriptomics to characterize tissue-resident T cells from human gut biopsies.

Biochem Biophys Res Commun

January 2025

Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden, Faculty of Medicine, Technische Universität Dresden, Dresden, Germany; Medizinische Klinik und Poliklinik I, Universitätsklinikum Carl Gustav Carus, Technische Universität Dresden, Dresden, Germany. Electronic address:

Gastrointestinal T cells (GI-T) play a critical role in mucosal immunity, balancing tolerance and pathogen defence. T cells recognize antigens via T cell receptors (TCRs). Next-generation sequencing (NGS) is utilized to analyse TCR repertoires in contexts such as health, haematological diseases, autoimmunity, and inflammation.

Background: Post bariatric hypoglycaemic (PBH) is a late complication of weight loss surgery, characterised by critically low blood glucose levels following meal-induced glycaemic excursions. The disabling consequences of PBH underline the need for the development of a decision support system (DSS) that can warn individuals about upcoming PBH events, thus enabling preventive actions to avoid impending episodes. In view of this, we developed various algorithms based on linear and deep learning models to forecast PBH episodes in the short-term.
