Palliative care clinical trials research in regional settings: green fields of opportunity.

Importance: Among older adults with ischemic heart disease, participation in traditional ambulatory cardiac rehabilitation (CR) remains low. While mobile health CR (mHealth-CR) provides a novel opportunity to deliver care, age-specific impairments to technology use may limit uptake, and efficacy data are currently lacking.
Objective: To test whether mHealth-CR improves functional capacity in older adults.
Historically, in-person contact between patients and nurses in home-based care has been pivotal in palliative care and hospice care. The provision of home-based palliative care services could be challenged by the projected increase in patients who need palliative care and by the expected shortage of nurses. Digital health services could constitute one measure for delivering high-quality palliative care, enabling patients to stay home.

Chronic pain (CP) is a complex and debilitating condition that significantly impairs quality of life and imposes a high burden on healthcare systems. This study aims to evaluate the impact of telemedicine on chronic pain management in cancer survivors with complex CP. Our multicenter retrospective investigation of cancer survivors with complex CP included 100 patients (median age 65 years, 62% female).
