Lymphocytic esophagitis (LE) is an uncommon subtype of esophagitis defined by persistent esophageal inflammation characterized by a high count of intraepithelial lymphocytes with scarce granulocytes. Although LE can present with atypical features such as chest pain, its clinical presentation can mimic that of gastroesophageal reflux disease or eosinophilic esophagitis, highlighting the importance of biopsy in diagnosing LE. Studies are still limited in understanding the pathophysiology behind this disease warranting further research.

Atypical presentation of Skene's gland cyst.

BMJ Case Rep

January 2025

Obstetric and Gynecology, The Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.

A nulliparous female presented with lower abdominal pain, initially diagnosed as incisional scar hernia, which was repaired. However, her pain persisted despite unremarkable radiology imaging. She was then diagnosed with anterior cutaneous nerve entrapment syndrome (ACNES) and underwent a right-sided ilioinguinal and iliohypogastric nerve block.

Background: The intercondylar space is defined as the topographic area walled by the intercondylar notch (IN) and encasing the central ligaments of the knee joint. As the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is not only impinged against the roof but also against the lateral wall of the IN, information concerning changes to the IN during the progression of osteoarthritis could be potentially relevant in predicting the future risk for ACL-rupture and -degeneration and ensure preventive measures as early as possible. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of osteoarthritis on osseous notch morphology.

Departamento de Biología Celular y Fisiología, Instituto de Investigaciones Biomédicas, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico, Mexico. Electronic address:

Throughout embryonic development, cells respond to a diverse set of signals and forces, making individual or collective decisions that drive the formation of specialized tissues. The development of these structures is tightly regulated in space and time. In recent years, the possibility that neighboring tissues influence one another's morphogenesis has been explored, as some of them develop simultaneously.

Does transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation alter pupil dilation? A living Bayesian meta-analysis.

Electronic address:

Background: Transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) has emerged as a promising technique to modulate autonomic functions, and pupil dilation has been recognized as a promising biomarker for tVNS-induced monoaminergic release. Nevertheless, studies on the effectiveness of various tVNS protocols have produced heterogeneous results on pupil dilation to date.

Methods: Here, we synthesize the existing evidence and compare conventional ("continuous") and pulsed stimulation protocols using a Bayesian meta-analysis.
