Vaccination throughout life is the best way to prevent infectious diseases and improve people's quality of life. As health professionals we must know the vaccine indications and guidelines as if they were any other treatment. In the updates for this year 2024, we continue to focus on the most relevant developments in terms of indications, changes in vaccination guidelines, new vaccines incorporated into the adult calendar and even anticipating the next vaccines to be incorporated in a short period of time.

Background: Heart failure is a rare manifestation of metastatic disease of the carcinoma of an unknown primary, malignancy that requires extensive work-up to identify the primary site. Initial consideration of rare etiologies in patients presented with a common clinical syndrome is challenging.
Case Presentation: A 35-year-old Black woman presented with shortness of breath at rest, orthopnea, paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea, chest pain, a blood-tinged productive cough, and fever for 2 weeks.

Background: The International Anorectal Physiology Working Group (IAPWG) suggests a standardized protocol to perform high-resolution anorectal manometry. The applicability and possible limitations of the IAPWG protocol in performing three-dimensional high-definition anorectal manometry (3D-ARM) have still to be extensively evaluated.
Methods: The IAPWG protocol was applied in performing 3D-ARM.

Background: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global problem and an important consequence of inappropriate use of antimicrobial agents (AMAs). Studies have observed that a lack of awareness of AMR among healthcare professionals as well as consumers results in the irrational use of AMAs, a significant driver of AMR.
Materials And Methods: This educational intervention study was undertaken to assess community awareness regarding AMAs and AMR and to educate them.

In 2014, the World Health Organisation (WHO) published target product profiles (TPP) for development of novel tuberculosis (TB) diagnostics. One of the key highlights is the need for point-of-care non-sputum-based tests capable of detecting all forms of TB through identification of characteristic biomarkers or biosignatures. Compared to the limitations associated with sputum-based TB tests, non-sputum samples are easy to collect, non-invasive, with potential to improve TB diagnosis among children and among people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV).
