Background: The present study examined the duration of bronchodilation induced by nebulized glycopyrronium bromide (GB) and compared its effectiveness and incidence of any side effects with the combination of salbutamol and ipratropium bromide (SI) in critically ill mechanically ventilated chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients.
Patients And Methods: This prospective, observational study was conducted in mechanically ventilated adult patients of COPD (18-75 years). Data of two groups of patients were collected for 12 hours each for three consecutive days after the nebulization - Group I: those who received 25 µg of GB, and Group II: those who received 1.

Respiratory diseases are among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Innovations in biochemical engineering and understanding of the pathophysiology of respiratory diseases resulted in the development of many therapeutic proteins and peptide drugs with high specificity and potency. Currently, protein and peptide drugs are mostly administered by injections due to their large molecular size, poor oral absorption, and labile physicochemical properties.

Cisplatin is one of the most commonly used chemotherapy in lung cancer despite its high nephrotoxicity leading to an administration only every 3-4 weeks. This study is the first report of a preclinical investigation of therapeutic intensification combining a cisplatin dry powder for inhalation (CIS-DPI) with an intravenous (iv) cisplatin-based treatment. CIS-DPI with 50% cisplatin content (CIS-DPI-50) was developed using lipid excipients through scalable processes (high-speed and high-pressure homogenization and spray-drying).

Previous field and laboratory studies investigating airborne Burkholderia pseudomallei have used a variety of different aerosol samplers to detect and quantify concentrations of the bacteria in aerosols. However, the performance of aerosol samplers can vary in their ability to preserve the viability of collected microorganisms, depending on the resistance of the organisms to impaction, desiccation, or other stresses associated with the sampling process. Consequently, sampler selection is critical to maximizing the probability of detecting viable microorganisms in collected air samples in field studies and for accurate determination of aerosol concentrations in laboratory studies.

Background: Nebulizer hygiene and care is important in cystic fibrosis (CF) to minimize device contamination from bacteria, including nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTMs). Most nebulizer manufacturers recommend nebulizer drying, however there is little evidence to understand how nebulizer drying affects NTM survival.
Methods: Mycobacterium abscessus subsp.
