Background: A difficult airway is anticipated with cervical spine injuries (CSIs) as immobilization techniques such as manual in-line stabilization (MILS) are used, which distort the oro-pharyngeal-laryngeal axis. Video laryngoscopes (VLs) make difficult airway management easy, as they do not require axis alignment. The present study aimed to compare the total time taken by Macintosh laryngoscope (ML), conventional blade, and D-blade ™ of C-MAC ® VL in simulated CSI scenarios using MILS.

A retrospective study was performed to evaluate the role of oral feeding (OF) time and sham feeding (SF) on oral-pharyngeal swallowing functions in children with esophageal atresia (EA). Patients with EA were evaluated for age, sex, and types of atresia, time to start OF and surgical complications. Three to six weeks after full OF, videofluoroscopic swallowing evaluation (VFSE) was performed, and Penetration Aspiration Score (PAS, no aspiration = 1, penetration = 2-5, aspiration = 6-8), delay in swallowing reflex and residue after liquid and pudding consistency were noted.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to investigate changes in the naso-pharyngeal and oro-pharyngeal airway with varying degrees of mandibular flare.
Methods: The investigators implemented a retrospective, observational study including CT data from patients fitting the inclusion criteria. Linear and angular measurements were used to assess the flare and transverse dimension of the mandible, while standard reference planes were used for assessment of airway dimensions.

Amyloodiniosis is a disease resulting from infestation by the ectoparasitic dinoflagellate (AO) and is a threat for fish species such as European sea bass (ESB, ), which are farmed in lagoon and land-based rearing sites. During the summer, when temperatures are highest, mortality rates can reach 100%, with serious impacts for the aquaculture industry. As no effective licensed therapies currently exist, this study was undertaken to improve knowledge of the biology of AO and of the host-parasite relationship between the protozoan and ESB, in order to formulate better prophylactic/therapeutic treatments targeting AO.
