Thrombin binding aptamer (TBA) is one of the best-known G-quadruplex (G4)-forming aptamers that efficiently binds to thrombin, resulting in anticoagulant effects. TBA also possesses promising antiproliferative properties. As with most therapeutic oligonucleotides, chemical modifications are critical for therapeutic applications, particularly to improve thermodynamic stability, resistance in biological environment, and target affinity.

Riboswitches are RNAs that recognize ligands and regulate gene expression. They are typically located in the untranslated region of bacterial messenger RNA and consist of an aptamer and an expression platform. In this study, we examine the folding pathway of the Vc2 (Vibrio cholerae) riboswitch aptamer domain, which targets the bacterial secondary messenger cyclic-di-GMP.

We developed a novel DNA aptamer, D8#24S1, which specifically recognizes mertansine (DM1), the cytotoxic payload of the antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1), and applied it for T-DM1 analysis. D8#24S1 was obtained through SELEX and was shown to specifically recognize DM1 with high affinity (dissociation constant, K = 84.2 nM).

N6-methyladenosine (mA) is one of the most prevalent modifications found in eukaryotic mRNA and has been implicated in the regulation of cell proliferation, development, invasion, apoptosis, and immunity. In this study, we first conducted a structural and evolutionary analysis of Wilms' tumour 1-associating protein (WTAP) in vertebrates, and the results showed that WTAP in vertebrates is conserved particularly in mammals and fish. We subsequently investigated the involvement of WTAP in the antiviral immune response of fish and discovered that the expression of Miichthys miiuy (mmiWTAP) decreased in response to stimulation with Siniperca chuatsi rhabdovirus (SCRV) and poly(I:C).

17-Estradiol (E2) is a natural steroidal estrogen essential for a variety of physiological functions in organisms. However, external E2, which is renowned for its potent biological effects, is also considered to be an endocrine-disrupting compound (EDC) capable of disturbing the normal operation of the endocrine system, even at nanogram-per-liter (ng/L) concentrations. Studies have revealed that medical and livestock wastewater can be contaminated with E2, which poses potential risks to human health.
