Survey of the approach to the diagnosis and management of bacterial pneumonia in adult horses by equine veterinarians.

Bacterial pneumonia is a common disease in adult horses, but there are no guidelines for practitioners regarding risk factors, diagnosis, and management of the disease. The objectives of this study were to describe how a group of equine veterinarians diagnose and treat bacterial pneumonia in adult horses. A 22-question survey was distributed via multiple platforms to equine veterinarians asking questions regarding the frequency with which they identified specific clinical findings and used certain diagnostic modalities, and the approach to antimicrobial and adjunct therapy.

Significance: Burning mouth syndrome (BMS) is a chronic orofacial pain disorder that seriously affects quality of life of patients. In recent years, Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) has been regarded as an important innovation in pain management, but there is insufficient evidence of its effectiveness in patients with painful BMS. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of LLLT for immediate pain relief due to BMS.

Emerging aspects of professionalism within forensic anthropology, while enhancing the scientific foundation and practice for the discipline, have created liminalistic spaces and experiences in education and training, employment, ethics, and identities that reflect the broader transitional status in the discipline as a whole. These liminal states and problems are discussed in terms of their creation, development, and potential for resolution. They are interpreted within a liminal framework which requires navigation through significant changes in roles, status, and identity in forensic anthropology practice.

As musculoskeletal injuries in gastroenterologists related to the performance of endoscopic procedures are on the rise, solutions and new approaches are needed to prevent these undesired outcomes. In our study, we evaluated an approach to ergonomic challenges in the form of a belt-like endoscope holder designed to redistribute the weight of the endoscope across the whole body of the practitioner. The aim of the study was to determine how the use of this holder affected the body posture of practitioners during endoscopy.
