17-Estradiol (E2) is a natural steroidal estrogen essential for a variety of physiological functions in organisms. However, external E2, which is renowned for its potent biological effects, is also considered to be an endocrine-disrupting compound (EDC) capable of disturbing the normal operation of the endocrine system, even at nanogram-per-liter (ng/L) concentrations. Studies have revealed that medical and livestock wastewater can be contaminated with E2, which poses potential risks to human health.

Introduction: Academic stress is a prevalent problem among university students, affecting both their psychological well-being and academic performance. This study aims to investigate the mediating roles of biological and psycho-behavioural variables in the relationship between academic stress and academic performance over the course of a semester. Through a longitudinal approach and using accessible data collection technologies, the results will enable the design of effective interventions to mitigate the impact of academic stress.

Plaque-type psoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease of uncertain etiology, significantly impacting patient well-being. This chronic condition not only contributes to stigmatization and mental health challenges but also poses an independent risk for cardiovascular and other comorbid diseases. Affecting approximately 60 million people globally, psoriasis manifests primarily as mild-to-moderate disease in about 80% of cases, where topical therapy is pivotal.

Article Synopsis
  • * The issues were caused by brownish pigments accumulating in the eye, likely moving from the trabecular meshwork through a previous surgical opening, despite conservative treatments like topical steroids not providing relief.
  • * A successful follow-up procedure using a special laser technique helped to disperse the pigments and relieve the patient's symptoms, highlighting the need for awareness and management of this complication, as well as suggesting a preventative measure.

Steroid hormones are essential for the regulation of various vital body functions. Therefore, the determination of steroid hormones in biological fluids is a significant issue to find out the mechanism of steroid hormones related to disorders. In this study, FeO/reduced graphene oxide (FeO/rGO) nanocomposite based dispersive solid phase extraction (DSPE) was coupled with liquid chromatography - quadruple isotope dilution - triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC-ID-MS/MS) for the accurate and precise determination of aldosterone, testosterone, 17-hydroxyprogesterone and estrone in serum samples.
