A lanthanide ion-based metal-organic framework (Eu-TATAB nanorods) was designed and synthesized as an effective tri-mode nanoprobe for sensitive and portable detection of ethanol content in a water-ethanol mixture. The assay was based on the responsive properties of Eu-TATAB nanorods to ethanol stimulus and their adaptive encapsulation capability towards optically active lanthanides. With the addition of ethanol to the Eu-TATAB nanorods, the structure was destroyed, resulting in a decrease in luminescence, electrochemiluminescence, and ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometric signals by perturbing energy transfer in the Eu-TATAB nanorods.

Objective: Infants are at a high risk of developing anaemia, which can arise from various causes, including inappropriate feeding practices. However, few infants attend anaemia screening programmes due to poor cooperation and being time-consuming. This study evaluated the accuracy of noninvasive total haemoglobin (Hb) spot-check monitoring as part of anaemia screening in healthy infants, compared with the conventional laboratory method.

The present study quantified simultaneous determination of the active components included in Valzomix HCT tablets are hydrochlorothiazide (HCT), valsartan (VAL), and amlodipine (AML). Two chemometric methods-continuous wavelet transform (CWT) and ratio subtraction (RS)-along with a rapid and effective spectrophotometric approach-which does not require preparatory separation-were used to do the analysis. The CWT approach applied the zero-crossing method to analyze several wavelet families and selected the Daubechies 2, Symlet 2, and Biorthogonal 1.

Spectrophotometry is widely used in biological sciences. In bacteriology, spectrophotometric monitoring of cell numbers during cultivation provides a rapid assessment of growth. Unfortunately, familiarity with this technique has led scientists to become complacent in its usage.

Carbohydrates serve crucial functions in most living cells, encompassing structural and metabolic roles. Within the realms of plant and algal biology, carbohydrate biosynthesis and partitioning play pivotal roles in growth, development, stress physiology, and various practical applications. These applications span diverse fields, including the food and feed industry, bioenergetics (biofuels), and environmental management.
