Many former university students on the autism spectrum have poor employment outcomes despite strengths, qualifications, and ability. This article presents findings from a qualitative study of 11 former university students on the spectrum (self-identified: 2 males, 7 females, 2 non-binary, 18-50+ years), and five significant others (2 mothers, 3 spouses), from Australia and New Zealand. We identified issues associated with better and poorer transition to employment experiences (poor mental health, lack of support, poor interview skills).

Background: The practice of family medicine is not well established in many developing countries including Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan Government funds and runs the health facilities which cater to the health needs of a majority of the population. Services of a first contact doctor delivered by full time, vocationally trained, Family Physicians is generally overshadowed by outpatient departments of the government hospitals and after hours private practice by the government sector doctors and specialists.

Stressors and demands related to changes in work environment may result in impairments of employees' health and ability to work. In the context of the German statutory pension insurance's inpatient medical rehabilitation, these aspects are increasingly taken into account within the concept of vocationally oriented medical rehabilitation (VOMR). Nonetheless, a comprehensive implementation of diagnostic and therapeutic concepts in rehabilitative practice has not yet been realized.

When Congress was considering extending Medicare coverage to those with chronic renal failure, it was predicted that 100% of these individuals would be vocationally active. Unfortunately, the actual vocational rehabilitation rate for this population is much below these earlier predictions. A comprehensive review of the literature establishes that there are variables that affect the employability of those on dialysis.
