Gastrointestinal (GI) involvement in Lewy body diseases (LBDs) has been observed since the initial descriptions of patients by James Parkinson. Recent experimental and human observational studies raise the possibility that pathogenic alpha-synuclein (⍺-syn) might develop in the GI tract and subsequently spread to susceptible brain regions. The cellular and mechanistic origins of ⍺-syn propagation in disease are under intense investigation.

Objective: There is limited knowledge about severe urinary tract infections associated with SGLT2i, despite this being the basis for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warning. We aim to provide real-world evidence to clarify this relationship further.
Data Source: A literature review was performed in PubMed and Embase for cohort studies published up to August 2024 using PICO-consistent terms.

Pressure injury (PI) prevention in the operating room (OR) has unique considerations based on the patient, procedure, position for the surgical procedure, and available positioning devices. Patient-specific factors contribute to their risk of incurring an intraoperative PI from the American Society of Anesthesiologists classification, sex, body mass index, comorbidities, age, and nutritional status. Additionally, there are surgery-specific risk factors such as length of procedure, intraoperative hypotension, lack of normothermia, and intraoperative blood loss.

Background: Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is a health problem worldwide, accounting for high hospital morbidity and mortality. There is little available information regarding the characteristics and incidence of AKI in Latin America (LA), especially in Mexico.
Objectives: Systematically search the literature and perform a meta-analysis of the epidemiology of AKI in Mexico, to provide data on AKI and kidney replacement therapy (KRT) that would contribute to general knowledge in this matter.
