Purpose: Pulmonary perfusion imaging is a key lung health indicator with clinical utility as a diagnostic and treatment planning tool. However, current nuclear medicine modalities face challenges like low spatial resolution and long acquisition times which limit clinical utility to non-emergency settings and often placing extra financial burden on the patient. This study introduces a novel deep learning approach to predict perfusion imaging from non-contrast inhale and exhale computed tomography scans (IE-CT).

Preprocessing of spinal cord fMRI data involves segmentation of the spinal cord on gradient-echo echo planar imaging (EPI) images. Current automated segmentation methods do not work well on these data, due to the low spatial resolution, susceptibility artifacts causing distortions and signal drop-out, ghosting, and motion-related artifacts.

Microglia, the parenchymal macrophage of the central nervous system, serve crucial remodeling functions throughout development. Microglia are transcriptionally heterogenous, suggesting that distinct microglial states confer discrete roles. Currently, little is known about how dynamic these states are, the cues that promote them, or how they impact microglial function.

Introduction: Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) is related to disproportionate unemployment and productivity burden in the USA. The current study describes real-world mental health (MH)-related disability days and costs of patients with TRD initiated on esketamine nasal spray or conventional therapies in the USA.
Methods: Adults with TRD were selected from Merative™ MarketScan Commercial database (from January 2016 to January 2023) and classified into four cohorts (esketamine, ECT [electroconvulsive therapy], TMS [transcranial magnetic stimulation], and SGA [second-generation antipsychotics] augmentation) based on therapy initiated (index date) on/after 5 March 2019 (esketamine approval date for TRD).

Background: Persisting post-concussion symptoms (PPCS) is a condition characterized by prolonged recovery from a mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and compromised quality of life. Previous literature, on the basis of small sample sizes, concludes that there are several risk factors for the development of PPCS.
Objective: We seek to identify protective and risk factors for developing slow recovery or persisting post-concussion symptoms (PPCS) by analyzing medical history, contact sport level, setting, and the Sport Concussion Assessment Tool (SCAT) and Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI-18) assessments at baseline and post-injury.
