Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine the marginal seal of novel bioactive restorative materials and the material-related properties associated with bacterial microleakage.
Methods: Class II cavities prepared into human extracted teeth were restored with: Venus Diamond (VD) + selective enamel etching (SEE)/self-etching universal adhesive (SEA), ACTIVA BioACTIVE RESTORATIVE (AB) + SEE/SEA, Cention Forte (CF) + Cention Primer, Ketac Universal Aplicap (KU), EQUIA Forte HT (EF) and Surefil One (SO) and exposed to a cariogenic multi-species bacterial suspension for 7 days. Bacterial microleakage was visualized with a modified gram staining protocol and bacterial penetration depths were microscopically determined after sectioning the teeth.

Single-molecule magnets (SMMs) are promising candidates for molecular-scale data storage and processing due to their strong magnetic anisotropy and long spin relaxation times. However, as the temperature rises, interactions between electronic states and lattice vibrations accelerate spin relaxation, significantly limiting their practical applications. Recently, ab initio simulations have made it possible to advance our understanding of phonon-induced magnetic relaxation, but significant deviations from the experiments have often been observed.

This chapter will critically review evidence across 40 years of research, covering both early and contemporary studies that have investigated sex/gender differences in hemispheric asymmetries, including both structural and functional asymmetries. We argue that small sex/gender differences in hemispheric asymmetry reliably exist, but there is significant overlap between the sexes and considerable within-sex variation. Furthermore, we argue that research to date is limited in its consideration of sex/gender-related factors, such as sex hormones and gender roles.

Background: The use of drains in reduction mammoplasty is highly variable among plastic surgeons. However, there is limited evidence to guide surgeons on the optimal timing and conditions for using drains to reduce the risk of seroma formation. The objective of this study was to identify factors that predict the possibility of developing postoperative seroma formation.

A bifunctional tubular step-scheme CoS/CdS heterostructure was successfully synthesized for efficient photoelectrochemical (PEC) detection coupled with the degradation of tetracycline (TC). It was found that so-obtained heterostructure could effectively suppress the recombination of photo-generated carriers and display larger PEC responses owing to the internal electrostatic field. Upon adding TC, the photocurrent signal of CoS/CdS heterostructure was specifically activated due to the direct consumption of holes in CdS component by TC, resulting in significantly enhanced charge separation.
