In the pursuit of sustainable engineering solutions, material selection is increasingly directed toward resources that offer functional efficacy, economic feasibility, and minimal environmental impact. To replace environmentally damaging materials like aluminum with more sustainable alternatives like wood-based materials, it is essential to improve the durability and longevity of wood. This study explores the potential suitability of modified veneers as an outer protective layer for unmodified wooden load-bearing elements, providing a cost-effective and resource-efficient alternative to bulk modification.

Motivation: DNA as a novel storage medium is considered an effective solution to the world's growing demand for information due to its high density and long-lasting reliability. However, early coding schemes ignored the biologically constrained nature of DNA sequences in pursuit of high density, leading to DNA synthesis and sequencing difficulties. This article proposes a novel DNA storage coding scheme.

Developmental dyslexia is a reading disorder that is associated with atypical brain function. One neuropsychological theory posits that dyslexia reflects a deficit in the procedural memory system, which supports implicit learning, or the acquisition of knowledge without conscious awareness or intention. This study investigated various forms of procedural learning in adults with dyslexia and typically-reading adults.

Lightweight, compact, integrated, and miniaturized energy devices are under high pursuit for portable and wearable electronics. However, improving the energy density per area still remains a long-standing challenge. Herein, we report the design and fabrication of a solid-state zinc-air microbattery (ZAmB) by a facile 3D direct printing technique.
