Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate the outcome of dual-mobility cup (DM) compared with a standard cup (SC) in primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) in the long-term follow-up based on a regional Italian joint registry (RIPO).
Methods: The Registry of Prosthetic Orthopaedic Implant (RIPO) was consulted, looking for all primary THAs implanted from 2000 to 2019. Three thousand seven hundred ten were dual-mobility cup (DM) total hip arthroplasties (THA) and 85.

In polymer composites, synthetic fibers are primarily used as a chief reinforcing material, with a wide range of applications, and are therefore essential to study. In the present work, we carried out the erosive wear of natural and synthetic fiber-based polymer composites. Glass fiber with jute and fiber was reinforced in three different polymer resins: epoxy, vinyl ester and polyester.

Purpose: d-Dimer estimation has been proposed as a reliable biomarker in prosthetic joint infections. Its role in non-prosthetic orthopaedic implant infections has, however, not been studied. The objectives of this study were to assess the levels of plasma d-Dimer in non-prosthetic orthopaedic implant infection.

Orthopaedic metallic implant's long-term success strongly depends upon the two main factors: osseointegration and antibacterial character. Bioceramic (hydroxyapatite and hopeite) coatings have been proven effective for getting strong osseointegration and antibacterial character. However, deterioration of bioceramic coatings during the implantation period can adversely affect its overall biological performance.
