Tryptophan (Trp) is an essential amino acid obtained from human diet. It is involved not only in de novo biosynthesis of proteins but also in complex metabolic pathways. Redox transformation of tryptophan is under-explored in comparison with kynurenine, serotonin and indole pyruvate pathways.

Microbial Electrochemical Technology (MET) offers a promising avenue for CO utilization by leveraging the ability of chemolithotrophic microorganisms to use inorganic carbon in biosynthetic processes. By harnessing the power of electroactive bacteria, METs can facilitate the conversion of inorganic carbon into organic compounds. Therefore, this work combines biosurfactant production at the anode and PHB production at the cathode of Microbial Fuel Cells (MFCs), while testing the efficiency of Microbial Electrosynthesis Cells (MECs), and traditional culture in liquid media.

Betaine has been proposed as a low-cost source of methyl groups in poultry feed, replacing methionine and choline. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of betaine on growth performance, methionine metabolism, and methyl transfer in broilers aged 1 to 21 days fed a low-methionine diet. A total of 960 one-day-old male broilers were randomly divided into four groups: positive control (0.

Despite extensive studies revealing differences in the composition of aquatic assemblages between restored streams and natural or pre-restoration states, understanding the ecological consequences and trajectories of stream restoration remains challenging. Food webs are an important way of mapping biodiversity to ecosystem functioning by describing feeding linkages and energy transfer pathways. Describing food webs can provide ecological insights into stream restoration.

Intestinal mucosal block is the transient reduction in iron absorption ability of intestinal epithelial cells (enterocytes) in response to previous iron exposures that occur at the cell scale. The block characteristics have been shown to depend both on iron exposure magnitude and temporality, and understanding block control will enable deeper understanding of how intestinal iron absorption contributes to pathological iron states. Three biochemical mechanisms implicated in driving the block behavior are divalent metal transporter 1 endocytosis, ferritin iron sequestration, and iron regulatory protein regulation of iron related protein expression.
