Background: Transnasal endoscopy (TNE) has been introduced in the care of pediatric patients with eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) who require repeated esophagoscopies. TNE, as compared to conventional endoscopy, is less invasive and avoids sedation or anesthesia allowing for frequent assessments of the esophageal mucosa when making management decisions. The aim of this study is to review our early experience with TNE.

Objective: This paper reports a case of achalasia in a 12-year-old girl who presented with stridor.
Case Report: An otherwise healthy 12-year-old girl presented to the ENT clinic with an 18-month history of dysphagia and noisy breathing on eating. Flexible fibre-optic examination showed a normal larynx with normal vocal fold movements.
Background/aims: To determine whether the use of narrow-band imaging (NBI) system could enhance the detection rate of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and precancerous lesions during endoscopic examination of the esophagus.
Methodology: 113 patients were randomized to undergo endoscopic examination using high definition television (HDTV) narrow band imaging (NBI) endoscopy or HDTV WL endoscopy. The primary endpoint was the difference in the neoplasm miss rate, and secondary outcome was the neoplasm detection rate.

Background: Recently, some patients have been found to have superficial squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the head and neck region during GI endoscopy; however, endoscopic biopsy from a lesion in the head and neck region is troublesome. An endocytoscopy system has been reported to enable optical biopsy of an esophageal lesion.
Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of in vivo cellular imaging with an integrated endocytoscopy system for patients with superficial SCC of the head and neck.
