Background: Genetic modifications in the renin-angiotensin aldosterone system (RAAS) have been suggested to play a key role in the pathophysiology of hypertension. The insertion/deletion polymorphism of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene phenomenon and its relationship with essential hypertension has not been explored within the Ghanaian population. This study aims to determine the relationship between the ACE I/D polymorphism and the risk of essential hypertension among patients seeking medical attention.

Field evidence indicates differences in the rate and severity of COVID-19 infection among Afghans and Iranians, potentially influenced by individual genomic variances. Therefore, investigating the potential causes of these disparities holds significant clinical importance. This study aims to explore and compare variations in the genes encoding angiotensin-converting enzyme 1 (ACE1) and angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), along with total ACE activity levels in the blood of Afghans and Iranians with COVID-19, to assess any potential correlation with disease severity.

BMY 7378 is a multitarget drug primarily known for its selective antagonism of α-adrenoceptors (α-AR), exhibiting both hypotensive effects and the ability to prevent or reverse angiotensin II-induced vascular hypertrophy. Notably, BMY 7378 contains a phenylpiperazine moiety, a structural feature associated with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibition. This study aimed to investigate ACE inhibition as a potential pharmacological mechanism of BMY 7378.

Our study is aimed at examining the Ice Hockey National Team players with regard to ACE I/D (rs1799752), ACTN3 (rs1815739), PPARA (rs4253778) and HIF1A (rs11549465) polymorphisms and physical tests. This study was participated by 21 players from ice hockey national team. While ACE I/D (rs1799752) polymorphism was obtained using conventional polymerase chain reaction method (PCR), ACTN3 (rs1815739), PPARA (rs4253778) and HIF1A (rs11549465) polymorphisms were produced by real time polymerase chain reaction method (qPCR).
