Background: Following COVID-19, dietary habits have been altered frequently along with other societal lifestyle modifications. However, changes in the dietary habits of maintenance hemodialysis patients (MHPs) before and during COVID-19 have not been investigated.
Methods: A total of 132 MHPs were assessed for changes in their dietary habits before and during the pandemic and their association with COVID-19 prevention.

Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) is a bacterial pathogen responsible for bacterial leaf blight (BLB) in rice, which can result in significant yield losses of up to 70%. A study evaluated the spread of Xoo in rice fields using environmental samples and employed colorimetric loop-mediated amplification (cLAMP) and PCR for detection.

Introduction: Patients with severe cognitive impairment, with the progression of the disease, show behavioral impairments, loss of functionality and, in many cases, swallowing changes (dysphagia). Dysphagia comes with serious complications that can cause health damage, such as malnutrition, dehydration and serious lung damage secondary to aspirations. This study leverages and upgrades the capabilities of computer-aided retrosynthesis (CAR) in the systematic development of greener and more efficient total synthetic routes for the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) IM-204, a helicase-primase inhibitor that demonstrated enhanced efficacy against Herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections. Using various CAR tools, several total synthetic routes were uncovered, evaluated, and experimentally validated, with the goal to maximize selectivity and yield and minimize the environmental impact. The CAR tools revealed several synthetic options under different constraints, which can overperform the patented synthetic route used as a reference.

Enterovirus A71 (EV-A71) has caused hand, foot, and mouth disease with an increased prevalence of neurological complications and acute mortality, threatening young children around the globe. By provoking mucosal immunity, intranasal vaccination has been suggested to prevent EV-A71 infection. However, antigens delivered via the nasal route usually fail to induce a protective memory response.
