Antibiofouling peptide materials prevent the nonspecific adsorption of proteins on devices, enabling them to perform their designed functions as desired in complex biological environments. Due to their importance, research on antibiofouling peptide materials has been one of the central subjects of interfacial engineering. However, only a few antibiofouling peptide sequences have been developed.

Pediococcus pentosaceus is well known for its probiotic properties, including roles in improving health, antimicrobial production, and enhancing fermented food quality. This study aimed to comprehensively analyze the whole genome of P. pentosaceus MBBL6, isolated from healthy cow milk, to assess its probiotic and antimicrobial potentials.

Background: Ruminants possess a rich repository of natural antimicrobial peptides(AMPs) within their bodies, surpassing those found in humans and mice. These peptides, including Defensin, Cathelicidin, and Lysozyme, are integral to the body's innate and adaptive immune responses and represent promising alternatives to antibiotics with significant application potential.
Results: In the present study, we conducted a systematic analysis of 40 Defensins, 38 Cathelicidins, and 61 Lysozymes in cattle and sheep.

Lysozymes are crucial enzymes involved in the innate immune response against bacterial pathogens. In this study, we identified and characterized a goose-type lysozyme gene (SsLyG) from the black rockfish Sebastes schlegelii, an economically important aquaculture species. The deduced amino acid sequence of SsLyG contains 495 residues, which inculded a signal peptide, an immunoglobulin domain, and a goose egg-white lysozyme (GEWL) domain.
