Aim: To assess tissue perfusion changes and wound healing biomarker levels after root coverage procedures with coronally advanced flap in combination with the cross-linked xenogeneic collagen matrix (CCMX), loaded either with a placebo or recombinant human platelet-derived growth factor-BB (rhPDGF).
Methods: This study was designed as a secondary analysis from a previously published clinical trial, and it assessed the tissue perfusion changes over 6 months around multiple gingival recession defects, treated with either with CCMX alone (control) or with CCMX + rhPDGF (test). High frequency Doppler ultrasonography (HFUS) scans were obtained at sites of interest at baseline, 2 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months after surgery.

Pediatric infections account for approximately one-third of all deaths in children under 5 globally. Lactoferrin (LF) supplementation has the potential to reduce infection-related morbidity due to its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory properties. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of oral LF supplementation randomized controlled trials (RCT) in population under 18 years old.

Web-based interventions have been shown to be effective for various health and mental health problems. However, the effectiveness of interventions is often limited by the fact that individuals do not start or complete them. Using data from an intermediate analysis of the randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial to evaluate the effectiveness of @myTabu, the current study investigated engagement with a web-based intervention for 113 individuals convicted of child sexual abuse and/or for child sexual exploitation material.

This study aimed to investigate whether 14 weeks of β-alanine supplementation and high-intensity intermittent training improves brain-derived neurotrophic factor concentrations and cognitive aspects related to executive functions assessed by the Stroop test. Thirteen healthy and active men underwent a 4-week supplementation period (β-alanine: 6.4 g/d or a placebo) followed by 10-week supplementation combined with high-intensity intermittent training, totaling 14 weeks of intervention.
