A serologic survey on 196 blood samples (20% of the present population) in a Bi-Aka pygmean population in Central African Republic. The survey demonstrated the frequency of the unquestionably positive sera: 79.4% of the studied sera. The existence of 78.5% positive sera in children and the observation of yaws lesions suggest a massive and very probably endemic infestation with Treponema pertenue.

Purpose: The effect of the diurnal temperature range (DTR) on human health in diverse geographic areas and the potential confounding factors are not fully understood. Additionally, while a robust association has been reported between temperature and cardiomyopathy (CM), evidence of the impact of DTR is relatively limited. Here, we determined whether an association exists between DTR and CM hospitalisations in vulnerable populations.

Background: While epidemiological data suggest a connection between atopic dermatitis (AD) and COVID-19, the molecular mechanisms underlying this relationship remain unclear.
Objective: To investigate whether COVID-19-related CpGs may contribute to AD development and whether this association is mediated through the regulation of specific genes' expression.
Methods: We combined Mendelian randomization and transcriptome analysis for data-driven explorations.

Genomic sequencing of worldwide butterfly fauna followed by phylogenetic analysis of protein-coding genes informs butterfly classification throughout the taxonomic hierarchy, from families to species. As a rule, we attribute the same taxonomic rank to more prominent clades of comparable divergence (i.e.

Background: Emerging evidence suggests that spirituality improves patient outcomes, however, this has undergone only limited evaluation in randomized trials. Hypertension is a major cause of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality worldwide.
Objectives: To evaluate whether a spirituality-based intervention, compared to a control group, can reduce blood pressure (BP) and improve endothelial function after 12 weeks in patients with mild or moderate hypertension (HTN).

Background: International migrants are central to HIV research, but comparative data on their infection rates versus resident populations, including in Chile, are scarce. This study compares HIV incidence rates between international migrants and Chileans.
Methods: A longitudinal study was conducted.
