An attempt was made to explain the mechanism of penetration of ionic medicinal substances through the lipoid membranes of the gastrointestinal tract. The equations worked out helped in the determination of constants which support and clarify further the already known concepts about the mechanisms of penetration of ionic drugs through the gastrointestinal tract.

Deep eutectic solvents (DES) and ionic liquids (ILs), specifically natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES), allow for the extraction of natural products using environmentally friendly solvents instead of organic solvents. Here we describe the extraction of anthocyanins from a medicinal plant using NADES prepared either by evaporating method or heating-and-stirring method with the help of ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE). The NADES extract can be qualified by the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method, which can separate the component of NADES with target compounds from medicinal plant.

Optimizing lipopeptide bioactivity: The impact of non-ionic surfactant dressing.

J Pharm Anal

December 2024

MTA-HUN-REN TTK Lendület "Momentum" Peptide-Based Vaccines Research Group, Institute of Materials and Environmental Chemistry, Research Centre for Natural Sciences, Budapest, H-1117, Hungary.

The aim of the research is to increase the applicability of lipopeptides as drugs. To this end, non-ionic triblock copolymers, namely poloxamers, were applied. The physico-chemical properties of poloxamers vary depending on the length of the blocks.

Utilization of AF4 for characterizing complex nanomaterial drug products: Reexamining sample recovery and its impact on particle size distribution as a quality attribute.

J Chromatogr A

January 2025

Office of Pharmaceutical Quality Research, Office of Pharmaceutical Quality, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Silver Spring, Maryland 20993, USA. Electronic address:

Asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation (AF4) with multi-detection has continued to gain wider acceptance for characterizing complex drug products. An important quality attribute for these products is the measurement of the particle size distribution (PSD). Current limitations of established procedures (e.

Androgenic alopecia (AGA), the most prevalent type of progressive hair loss, currently lacks an effective topical treatment regimen. In this study, we synthesized an ionic liquid (IL) to co-solubilize minoxidil (MXD) and finasteride (FIN) and subsequently formulated them into an in situ thermosensitive ionic liquid/cyclodextrin/poloxamer hydrogel (ICPG), termed M + F@ICPG. M + F@ICPG was developed for the transdermal co-delivery of these two drugs, aiming to provide a multipath therapeutic approach for AGA while avoiding the adverse effects commonly associated with oral FIN and topical MXD tincture.

Marine polysaccharide hydrogels have emerged as an innovative platform for regulating the in vivo release of natural bioactive compounds for medical purposes. These hydrogels, which have exceptional biocompatibility, biodegradability, and high water absorption capacity, create effective matrices for encapsulating different bioactive molecules. In addition, by modifying the physical and chemical properties of marine hydrogels, including cross-linking density, swelling behavior, and response to external stimuli like pH, temperature, or ionic strength, the release profile of encapsulated bioactive compounds is strictly regulated, thus maximizing therapeutic efficacy and minimizing side effects.
