TET2-mediated 5-hydroxymethylcytosine of TXNIP promotes cell cycle arrest in systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma.

Clin Epigenetics

January 2025

Department of Pathology, Clinical Oncology School of Fujian Medical University, Fujian Cancer Hospital, Fuzhou, China.

Background: 5-Hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) modification represents a significant epigenetic modification within DNA, playing a pivotal role in a range of biological processes associated with various types of cancer. The role of 5hmC in systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) has not been thoroughly investigated. This study aims to examine the function of 5hmC in the advancement of ALCL.

Ephrin A1 functions as a ligand of EGFR to promote EMT and metastasis in gastric cancer.

EMBO J

January 2025

Department of Colorectal Surgery and Oncology and Department of Cell Biology, Center for Medical Research and Innovation in Digestive System Tumors, Ministry of Education, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, China.

Distant metastasis is the major cause of gastric cancer mortality, and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) activation plays critical roles in gastric cancer dissemination. However, EGFR targeting therapies in gastric cancer show only marginal effects, and the molecular mechanisms of oncogenic EGFR signaling remain poorly defined. Here, we report Ephrin A1 as a novel ligand of EGFR in gastric cancer.

PLK3 weakens antioxidant defense and inhibits proliferation of porcine Leydig cells under oxidative stress.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Department of Laboratory Animal Science, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Hengyang Medical School, University of South China, Hengyang, Hunan, China.

Aging is characterized by cellular degeneration and impaired physiological functions, leading to a decline in male sexual desire and reproductive capacity. Oxidative stress (OS) lead to testicular aging by impairing the male reproductive system, but the potential mechanisms remain unclear. In the present study, the functional status of testicular tissues from young and aged boars was compared, and the transcriptional responses of Leydig cells (LCs) to hydrogen peroxide (HO)-induced senescence were explored, revealing the role of OS in promoting aging of the male reproductive system.

The hypertension patient population has doubled since 1990, affecting 1.3 billion globally and >75% live in low-and middle-income countries. Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors (ACEI) and Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARB) are the most prescribed drugs (>160 million times in the US), but mortality increased >30% since 1990s globally.

Barcoded screening identifies nanocarriers for protein delivery to kidney.

Nat Commun

January 2025

School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, MOE Key Laboratory of Bioorganic Phosphorus Chemistry & Chemical Biology, Tsinghua University, Beijing, P.R. China.

Targeted protein delivery with nanocarriers holds significant potential to enhance therapeutic outcomes by precisely directing proteins to specific organs or tissues. However, the complex interactions between nanocarriers and the biological environment pose considerable challenges in designing effective targeted delivery vehicles. In this study, we address this challenge by leveraging DNA-barcoded high-throughput screening.
