Sulfidogenic bacteria cause numerous issues in the oil industry since they produce sulfide, corroding steel equipment, reducing oil quality, and worsening the environmental conditions in oil fields. The purpose of this work was to isolate and taxonomically identify the sulfidogenic bacteria responsible for the corrosion of steel equipment at the Karazhanbas oil field (Kazakhstan). In this study, we characterized five sulfidogenic strains of the genera , , and isolated from the formation water of the Karazhanbas oil field (Kazakhstan).

This paper presents the results of microbial corrosion tests on M0-grade copper under conditions simulating a geological repository for radioactive waste at the Yeniseisky site (Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia). The work used a microbial community sampled from a depth of 450 m and stimulated with glucose, hydrogen and sulfate under anaerobic conditions. It was shown that the maximum corrosion rate, reaching 9.

Photocatalytic antibacterial technology has the potential to prevent the formation of biofilms and microbial corrosion of metals by rapidly eliminating microorganisms in a short period. In this study, novel NH-MIL-101(Al)/AgI is in-situ synthesized at ambient temperature, revealing enhanced photocatalytic antibacterial activity and cyclic stability in seawater. A low dosage of 0.

Electrochemical and shake flask tests were used to examine the corrosion characteristics of typical gangue minerals in biometallurgical systems and their impact on microbial communities. The results show that the solubility order of the three gangue minerals is feldspar, mica, and quartz in descending order. Their corrosion processes are mainly controlled by cathodic electron-donating processes.

Concrete, a versatile construction material, faces pervasive deterioration due to microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) in various applications, including sewer systems, marine engineering, and buildings. MIC is initiated by microbial activities such as involving sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB), sulfur-oxidizing bacteria (SOB), etc., producing corrosive substances like sulfuric acid.
