To explore the operioperative and long-term outcomes of inflatable mediastinoscopic resection of esophageal carcinoma (IVMTE) and minimally invasive Mckeown resection of esophageal carcinoma (MIME) in early esophageal cancer. This is a retrospective cohort study. A retrospectively analysis was conducted on 176 patients with cT1N0M0 esophageal cancer who underwent IVMTE or MIME at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Anhui Provincial Hospital Affiliated with Anhui Medical University from April 2017 to April 2019.

Background And Objective: Diagnosis of pathology in the mediastinum has proven quite challenging, given the wide variability of both benign and malignant diseases that affect a diverse array of structures. This complexity has led to the development of many different non-invasive and invasive diagnostic modalities. Historically, diagnosis of the mediastinum has relied on different imaging modalities such as chest X-ray, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging, and positron emission topography.

Objective: The efficacy and safety of transcervical inflatable mediastinoscopic esophagectomy (TIME) in the treatment of esophageal cancer are unclear. The objective of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of TIME treatment for esophageal cancer and to compare it with thoracoscopic assisted minimally invasive esophagectomy (TAMIE) for the treatment of esophageal cancer.
Methods: A literature search was performed using PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library to retrieve articles published up to January 2024 to comparatively assess studies of TIME and TAMIE.

Background: Invasive mediastinal staging is a crucial component of the preoperative evaluation for potential surgical candidates with pleural mesothelioma (PM). Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) is less invasive than mediastinoscopy for staging; however, its accuracy in patients with PM remains undefined.
