Background: The incidence of revision shoulder arthroplasty continues to rise, and infection is a common indication for revision surgery. Treatment of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) in the shoulder remains a controversial topic, with the literature reporting varying methodologies, including the use of debridement and implant retention, single-stage and 2-stage surgeries, antibiotic spacers, and resection arthroplasty. Single-stage revision has been shown to have a low rate of recurrent infection, making it more favorable because it precludes the morbidity of a 2-stage operation.

Background: Solitary spinal metastasis (SM) is one of the indications for total en bloc spondylectomy (TES). Conventional TES carries the risk of damage to the great vessels anterior to the vertebral column, mainly because of a lack of visualization of the anterior structures. In this study, we devised a modified standard TES technique to achieve direct visualization in a 1-stage posterior approach.

Aim: The indications for performing retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) have increased. However, no comparative studies have been conducted on the treatment of staghorn renal calculi using RIRS and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL). We aimed to compare the effectiveness and safety of RIRS and PCNL as treatments for staghorn renal calculi.

Introduction: There are many suitable techniques for the treatment of soft tissue defects of the lower limb. Older subjects often with multiple comorbidities, presenting with a laterally located and complex defect, can be challenging to treat. This cohort are often unsuited to long procedures or multi-stage reconstruction and so one is faced with a paucity of options.

Primary intraosseous meningioma (PIM) is a rare subtype of extradural meningiomas, with the indication for surgical resection in most cases. With an increasing demand for efficient workflows with optimal functional and cosmetical results, techniques for bone reconstruction after resection are developing rapidly. The authors present 2 cases with one-stage cranioplasty after resection of PIM, using 3D technology for preplanned patient-specific implants.
