Background: Calcineurin inhibitors (CNIs) affect kidney electrolyte handling and blood pressure (BP) through an effect on the distal tubule. The second-generation CNI voclosporin causes hypomagnesaemia and hypercalciuria less often than tacrolimus. This suggests different effects on the distal tubule, but this has not yet been investigated experimentally.

Background: Medicinal plants have been found beneficial in the control and therapy of many ailments as they contain bioactive compounds, and many of them are used as precursors in the biosynthesis of natural medicines. Diuretics are used as a primary treatment in patients with edema associated with liver cirrhosis and kidney diseases, hyperkalemia, hypertension, heart failure, or renal failure. Furthermore, they are also used to increase the excretion of sodium and reduce blood volume.

Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: 72 patients were divided into three groups depending on the type of operations; it were group 1 (ventriculostomy), group 2 (hematoma removal), and group 3 (tumor removal), the anesthesia durations in these groups were 65±5 min, 145±7 min and 225±10 min, respectively. Total propofol doses in patients of groups 1, 2, and 3 were 452±22 mg, 710±42 mg, and 966±51 mg, respectively.

The diuretic effect of 3-demethyl-2-geranyl-4-prenylbellidypholine xanthone (DGP) and 1,5,8-trihydroxy-4',5'-dimethyl-2H-pyrano(2,3:3,2)-4-(3-methylbut-2-enyl) xanthone (TDP), two natural prenylated xanthones, was investigated in female normotensive (NTR) and spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). The rats received a single treatment with DGP, TDP, hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ), or vehicle (VEH) after an oral load of physiological saline. The effects of DGP and TDP in combination with diuretics of clinical use, as well as with L-NAME, atropine and indomethacin were also explored.
