Profiles of using the intravenous mononarcosis (sodium hydroxybutyrate, viadryl , ketamin , sombrevin, seduxen) in urgent surgery and traumatology are analyzed. Choice of certain narcotics is motivated for patients with blood loss and shock, intoxication, insufficiency of kidneys, adrenals and liver, cardio-vascular and respiratory disorders. The problem of antinarcotics is considered with reference to the efficiency of specific (bemegride, gutimine , amtizol , cytochrome "C") and nonspecific ( osmodiuretics , infusion media containing thawing water) antinarcotics .
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe experience of using sombrevin anesthesia in 3644 cases and its 3 severe complications which resulted in the development of terminal states up to the clinical death (reanimation was successful) is analyzed. This anesthesia is shown to be necessary under conditions providing a possibility of immediate fulfillment of the complex of highly skilled reanimation measures, with early solution of problems of succession between the polyclinic link and the reanimation hospital. Special attention is called to strict observation of the principle of the preliminary (the day before operation) examination by an anesthesiologist of the patients who are to be subjected to planned short operative interventions, for the individual choice of the method of anesthesia and prevention of severe complications after narcosis.

A procedure of totaling the value of coins of different denominations has been evaluated as a simple test for assessing recovery from general anesthesia. The procedure required the patient to pick up speedily seven coins of small denominations one after the other, name the value of each coin as it was picked up, add its value to that of the previous ones and obtain the cumulative total of the seven coins. The test simultaneously assesses return of sensory perception, acuity of vision, ability to quickly change eye fixation, fine muscle coordination, higher intellectual faculties required for mathematical performance, sustained concentration, and word naming.
