Neurodegeneration: 2024 update.

Free Neuropathol

January 2024

Department of Pathology, Nash Family Department of Neuroscience, Department of Artificial Intelligence & Human Health, Neuropathology Brain Bank & Research CoRE, Ronald M. Loeb Center for Alzheimer's Disease, Friedman Brain Institute, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, NY, USA.

This review highlights a collection of both diverse and highly impactful studies published in the previous year selected by the author from the neurodegenerative neuropathology literature. As with previous reviews in this series, the focus is, to the best of my ability, to highlight human tissue-based experimentation most relevant to experimental and clinical neuropathologists. A concerted effort was made to balance the selected studies across neurodegenerative disease categories, approaches, and methodologies to capture the breadth of the research landscape.

Dentistry still faces difficulties in diagnosing oral precancer and cancer, especially when it comes to early phase changes or disease detection, evaluation, and treatment. In essence, oral lumenography is the process of identifying oral lesions using a chemiluminescent light source and a toluidine blue labeling system. Since neoplastic epithelial cells have a changed nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio, acetic acid dehydration brings out this nuclear density and gives the tissue an "acetowhite" look.

Spatial and Temporal Tumor Heterogeneity in Gastric Cancer: Discordance of Predictive Biomarkers.

J Gastric Cancer

January 2025

Department of Pathology, Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul National University College of Medicine, Seoul, Korea.

Gastric cancer (GC) is a highly heterogeneous disease that varies in both histological presentation and genetic characteristics. Recent advances in the treatment of metastatic and unresectable GC have made several biomarker tests essential for patient management. Predictive biomarkers such as human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), mismatch-repair (MMR) proteins, claudin 18.

Parasitic infestations are one of the most economically important disease conditions in the Indian major carps including mrigal, Cirrhinus mrigala. This study reported the biosafety and tissue withdrawal of in-feed administered antiparasitic drug, emamectin benzoate (EMB). To evaluate the biosafety of the drug, behaviour, growth and tissue changes in Cirrhinus mrigala was recorded the following in-feed administration of EMB up to 10 times (T1-50 μg kg fish day (1×), T2-125 μg kg fish day (2.
