Study of the effects of chronic alcohol intoxication on conditioned behaviour in rats revealed spatial desorientation, the lack of a stable level of alertness, "negative attitude" to novelty, automatism of motor habit and periodical impairment of temporary connection reproduction. The authors conclude that the observed changes are comparable to a certain degree with the clinical pattern of Korsakov syndrome.

Background: Prostate cancer is the most common diagnosed tumor and the fifth cancer related death among men in Europe. Although several genetic alterations such as ERG-TMPRSS2 fusion, MYC amplification, PTEN deletion and mutations in p53 and BRCA2 genes play a key role in the pathogenesis of prostate cancer, specific gene alteration signature that could distinguish indolent from aggressive prostate cancer or may aid in patient stratification for prognosis and/or clinical management of patients with prostate cancer is still missing. Therefore, here, by a multi-omics approach we describe a prostate cancer carrying the fusion of TMPRSS2 with ERG gene and deletion of 16q chromosome arm.

The addition of a redox mediator as soluble catalyst into electrolyte can effectively overcome the bottlenecks of poor energy efficiency and limited cyclability for Li-O2 batteries caused by passivation of insulating discharge products and unfavorable byproducts. Herein we report a novel soluble catalyst of bifunctional imidazolyl iodide salt additive, 1,3-dimethylimidazole iodide (DMII), to successfully construct highly efficient and durable Li-O2 batteries. The anion I- can effectively promote the charge transport of Li2O2 and accelerate the redox kinetics of oxygen reduction/oxygen evolution reactions on the cathode side, thereby significantly decreasing the charge/discharge overpotential.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection has been associated with systemic inflammation and vascular injury, which contribute to the development of acute respiratory syndrome (ARDS) and the mortality of COVID-19 infection. Moreover, multiorgan complications due to persistent endothelial dysfunction have been suspected as the cause of post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Therefore, elucidation of the vascular inflammatory effect of SARS-CoV-2 will increase our understanding of how endothelial cells (ECs) contribute to the short- and long-term consequences of SARS-CoV-2 infection.

There are worries about the effects this phenomenon may have on the productivity and performance of native livestock species due to its influence on environmental stresses, such as the frequency and severity of unfavorable weather occurrences and the ongoing changes in the agro-ecological landscape. Among the most climatically tolerant livestock animals, goats can survive in a range of environments, from deserts to alpine areas.
