Background: Despite a global drop of under-five mortality by 59% between 1990 and 2019, it remains high in Low- and Middle- income Countries (LMICs)with a preponderance in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), Southern and Central Asia. Besides preterm and intrapartum complications, undernutrition contributes 45% of the deaths in these developing regions. In Africa, under-five mortality due to severe acute malnutrition (SAM) has stagnated at 10-40%, higher than WHO targets and the SDGs projections.

Background: Hypertensive Disorder during Pregnancy (HDP) is the most prevalent obstetric conditions in maternal health, but the etiology of most cases remains unexplained. Seasonal variations in the conception of HDP may offer insights into the potential seasonal-specific risk factors.
Methods: Data were sourced from the China's National Maternal Near Miss Surveillance System (NMNMSS) between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2021.

Background: Children with non-syndromic cleft lip with or without palate (CL ± P) may present alterations in dental development. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to compare the dental age (DA) between children with and without CL ± P, and whether single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in genes encoding growth factors are associated with DA variations.
Methods: Children aged between 5 and 14 years with and without CL ± P were recruited to participate in this study.

Background: In an efficient and effective healthcare delivery, good communication plays an essential role. The communicative health literacy (COMM-HL) of the patients is an important attribute, but the number of validated COMM-HL assessment tools is low, and they do not cover all aspects of COMM-HL. That's why a new scale has been developed within an international collaboration.

Background: Study the leaf functional traits is highly important for understanding the survival strategies and climate adaptability of old trees. In this study, the old (over 100 years old) and mature trees (about 50 years old) of Pinus tabulaeformis in the Loess Plateau were studied, and the variation of 18 leaf functional traits (6 economic, 4 anatomical, 2 photosynthetic and 6 physiological traits) was analyzed to understand the differences of survival strategies between old and mature trees. Combined with transcriptome and simple sequence repeats (SSR) techniques, the effects of soil property factors and genetic factors on leaf functional traits and the potential molecular mechanisms of traits differences were studied.
